OfflineIn the middle of the pre exam rush, i feel a bit short of time to do some home studio recorded vocals. I keep on singing and practising nevertheless.
A few days ago, i sumbled upon Chris Myai's awesome cover of Would and i got this song and his voice stuck in my head. I decided to have my own try.

The end is pretty messed up because i had a blank on the lyrics and was trying to figure them out.
I usually post more polished covers, but this is how my voice would sound on a casual event without being too much prepared.

OfflineGreat job. Seems like your timing is a little bit off sometimes toward like the middle of the song. Could be for a number of technological reasons but if isn't I think that would be the next thing to focus on.

OfflineThanks for commenting Owen. You are right about the timing, and my the drummer of my former band was very aware of that too. I was sometimes singing too loud to hear the backing track, but i have nontheless a small issue with timing. Phil noticed that too in our last lesson (i was trying to sing a Mickael Jackson tune and there were some "funky parts" that were rythmically hard for me).
At the beginning i thought that Chris myai was off timing around 1.48 but now that i listen again it seems more of an aesthetic delay ?

Offlineyeah he's definitely a teeny bit ahead of the beat there, doesn't sound intentional to me. the rhythm itself is very syncopated too but you're probably hearing that he didn't nail it 100%

OfflineHey man, good job. I think you have all the hard parts in your reach, also a very nice vibrato.
Some points I think would help:
-Generally just make sure to define both the melodyline aswell as the timings. You sing it a bit more straightforward than the original which in itself is not wrong but you loose some of the flare of the original.
-Some things I heard in particular to the word "mistake" in the chorus. You close into the ee in the final note on that word making it sound a little bit weird to me. You could sing that part like "mist-eh-k" I think and it would sound more cohesive. This is just details of course but you really have the major parts of it down and then there is nothing but details left
Good luck man!
