Hi Roger,
You can lean in a little. The idea of the exercise is to warm you up and also help get you to avoid pulling the tongue backwards. Lip bubbles are the easiest to stay connected on, tongue exercise 2nd easiest then you go to open vowels. So with that in mind. Use as much weight as you desire without flipping.

Alternatively if you feel you do not need to warm up with these exercise feel free to just jump straight into vowels. It just depends on how thorough you feel you need to warm up

Hello everyone,

I thought I would post a message pertaining to an issue that I am facing with the tongue exercise.
Nb when I state tongue exercise, I am not referring to the tongue trill, but am rather addressing the exercise in whereby the participant (exerciser) pokes out their tongue and completes a pattern/scale of notes within this position.

Now the question that I need to be addressed is as followed:
Is this exercise only meant to be completed lightly? When I refer to the term lightly, I am meaning the procedure in whereby one uses very little compression, and connects all registers together without any vocal breaks. i.e. the goal being to smoothly to eliminate vocal breaks whilst transiting into different registers? Or, am I meant to approach this exercise with the intention of incorporating some "power" within my voice and either stretching chest/incorporating the mix voice so that I can successfully transition into different vocal registers.

I currently can successfully enact both processes. However I am not 100% sure which way would be deemed as being the correct way of training.

Many thanks

R
