Here is something i wanted to post, maybe some other singers can relate to this.
Once i could sing in a light mix, i had this persistent feeling of having two voices, but instead of having chest/falsetto, i would be able to chose between heavy belts or a light mix.
I have heaved up my belts up to the tenor C, but then, i felt the same issue a couple of tones higher. But as you can listen on the video Phil posted when i ask if i have to go for a lighter or heavier voice, it doesn't sound very different.

My issue is that i was rather shifting to head resonance too early (around A4) or too (above C5)
Yesterday, i found a new spot where i could blend almost seamelessly :

Its still a bit of a stunt and super tricky to do, but i feel like finding the spot. On this recording, i feel like bringing almost all my chest resonance on the high C. I think you can hear it as it sounds a bit more belty than where i shift in head resonance on higher notes.

I will keep on experimenting until i find that critical balance that will allow me to sing Dio songs.

Trying pushing up chest into the sound. Yes push it in. However, make sure you have strong breath support, forward placement and vowel.modifications so you can maintain the sound and not end up yelling.

We got a lesson coming up so I will show you what to do there...
When I am going up to F5s I just think about trying to do it in my chest voice literally...the voice thins out as it needs to and shifts the resonance as it needs to. You've built the muscle memory, you can work with this same mindset too I believe. don't think lighter, think more narrow
