Thanks for checking it out Martin! haha well I used to define it as correct pressure and stable flow. I adapted that after some debates with you and Rach, hope you don´t mind ;).

By the way,

You´ve mentioned several times the use of clavicular breathing for more intense singing. Do you have any resources I could check? Its interesting.

Hey Jordan,

I think Marnell videos are very good.

Perhaps I was not clear as I wanted to be, sorry. The meaning I intended was not in the sense that you should not be feeling those things. What I meant is to not stress about one sensation alone, and that support itself is not the sensations we use to control it. Those are good references to control the coordination yes, but only when you get to produce it properly.

An example that may make it clearer: Lets say that you were telling someone else to do what I described on that first idea we used (and yes what you described seems right), do you believe that telling the person to feel a "slight pushing down" would produce the exact same thing? How do we know what everyone will do in order to "slight push down"?

Also what you are feeling may not be the same that others will feel, or they may feel the same, but describe it differently... What is really important is that you get to feel how its like to use the primary muscles responsible for inhaling and develop control. Feeling it is important of course, but the specific way that it feels does not need to match what others feel.

Makes sense?

Excactly. If support was driving fast in a cab you could say "When I drive fast in my cab I feel the wind on my face". That does not mean that feeling the wind on your face is driving fast in a cab, it may just be windy outside

Jordan it's kind of trick wording. I think what he's saying is support may feel like any or all or none of those concepts depending on how you need to manage the air flow/air pressure balance which depends on how and what you're singing and also what the larynx is doing etc.

Hey Felipe, this is where I got slightly confused.

If support isn't pushing down, pushing to the sides, inhaling the sound, holding back the air, a sensation of expanding the back, a sensation of expanding my belly or a sensation of pressure inside, then what is it?

I read further up that it is "Proper airflow and pressure for the phonation being produced".

When I do the ideas you posted for example Idea 1, I feel a slight pushing down, on the sides, expanding of the back and slight in the belly and a pressure inside. Am I doing it wrong?
I feel, braced, if that makes sense. Not to the brink of explosion though.

Also, what's your take on videos from Marnell talking about pushing down and out when supporting?

A very good read. Part 2 in particular could be a sticky for ALOT of support questions on the forums

Also, the part about the larynx being able to regulate the flow but often suffering from doing that was an eye-opener. It went in line with some sensations I know I've had and have and will hopefully help in bettering my stamina.

So, I wrote a few articles on breathing and support, trying to explain the basis as I know with detail to allow a more "aware" approach into it.
