Thanks quentin. Like I said...I love this song but it isn't really my thing singing style wise. But I don't peg myself into one genre. I like to be diverse and try different things. Granted they may not sound like what someone expects to hear, like Geoff Tate, Ozzy, Steve Perry or Paul Mcartney etc. And singing in my style may throw people off but I don't care as long as the notes are hit and the pitch is correct. Then to me I'm doing a good job and it is all working out. The training is working. But you are making a good point that the flip doesn't fit. Perhaps it would fit if it were you or someone else singing. But I think I hear myself different than others hear me. I hear me singing cleaner I think. While others seem to hear a different tone more soulful perhaps or a bit more dirty or raspy? I played this song way back when for someone on TMV forum and they liked it but said it sounded like Ray Charles doing the Beatles. Ray Charles is one of my main influences but on a Beatles tune I don't channel him. I thought I sounded like the Beatles. LMAO!!!

I guess a big part of singing is knowing what you fit and what fits you. By peoples responses I am starting to see that I may be a bit more bluesy sounding than I thought. But that's cool. As long as I know. It would help allot if I could alter the backing music to fit though. Trying to sing soulful to the original track doesn't work. I'm caught in the confines of that melody and parameters.

Thanks for the listen. When my voice bronchitis/pneumonia/whatever gets completely healed I will try to make a new track.

Tommy, I liked it too. Good round tone and your have a great pitch accuracy!

When i heard your bluesy voice, i didn't expect the falsetto as i think it does not really match your interpretation of the song. Thats the only thing i can point. Can't wait to listen to a better audio recording and without the voice flip. It would match more your style of singing.

Some history about me and Let it Be.

Although I don't do this song anymore and have deleted it from my song list there is some good news (for me) about it. I love this song and always have. I really enjoy singing it although as I mentioned, I never felt it suited me. Or I should say I never suited it. But whenever I was going to be singing allot possibly over a period of days I used this as an ice breaker. A "get a feel for the crowd" song. I called it a throw away. It would be my first song on the first night when the crowd was light early in the evening to see how the crowd reacts, what kind of crowd it was and perhaps their taste in music. Also to give them a taste of my voice but without wasting any of my good songs. Normally I'm not warmed up well when i sing this and if I'm not I feel more inclined (forced) into the falsetto so as not to strain. The good news is that this video is pretty old and since then with the help of Felipe I don't have to use the falsetto anymore. Granted i still need to be warmed up good but I can navigate that portion of the song better now and more comfortably without flipping into falsetto. Actually I still throw in a couple of falsetto "Let It Be's" in the second half of the song after the instrumental break just for some color.

Felipe and I didn't actually work on this song as I never brought it to his attention. Like I said, I love it and love singing it, but it isn't what I would call a fit. But by working with Felipe on other things, techniques, exercises, enlightenment, other songs, I find it easier to dig through my toolbox and go back to old trouble spots (or new ones) and fix them.
If I could find a backing track (I've searched) that was a bit more soulful or bluesy I'd like that. It would fit me better. Joe Cocker does a version but there is no track. I think Ray Charles has also covered this (or maybe that was hey Jude?) but no luck there.

Anyway. Maybe someday I will post a newer version without the flip. I only recently posted this one to my Youtube channel but the actual video is probably a couple of years old. I'm not sure.

Just thought I'd note the progress I made on this thanks to some training and Felipe's help. Thanks for listening

Yea, the phone thing ain't good. But it doesn't help that my wife is shy and kind of hides when she does video. Most times she sits in the back row and all you see are heads and can barely hear me. And she always starts the video late. And she doesn't like when I speak to the crowd or especially if I point her out.

Thanks Owen.

From what I can HEAR, overall it sounds great - nice pitch, tone, and interpretation.

But boy that phone quality really hides the details!!!

Or maybe it was an unusually low quality upload?

Here's part of (most of) Let it Be. This was live with a band quite awhile back. I have since changed how I sing this because my wife hates the falsetto I no longer do the falsetto on the Chorus "let it be" lines. Ohhh, she never lets me hear the end of it.

In the video (my wife is doing the filming and as always only gets some of the song...lol) you see my beer sitting on the table. It's late and that isn't my first!

I don't really do this song anymore as it isn't in my wheelhouse. Plus, people want to hear "The Beatles" and if you know me yet, you know that I only do "Tommy." Everything has a touch of soul or blues added.
