When we made this video we were pretty new to all of this collaboration stuff. This was only our second video after making "Got My Mojo Working." He actually hadn't been playing very long at the time. Maybe a year? I thought he was pretty good considering. At times I did think he stepped on the vocals a bit and in practice versions I told him; but it was a learning process. These days I think he's a smokin' player. He's been playing only about three years or so at this point. That isn't very long. We've been working on a "Clapton - ish " version of "crossroads" with harp instead of guitar but as I stated we have had equipment breakdowns so who knows. He was having trouble getting the harmonica parts to sound right also.

I met him on a harmonica forum...that's his thing. If you listen to "Mojo Working" you can hear him try to slip in some backing vocals and it just doesn't work...lol. But even though I played harmonica for a good while (guitar too) I would always sing along since I have been singing since childhood. I enjoyed it more and people, whenever I wanted to show off my skills at playing an instrument would never comment on the instrument. Only my singing. So I stopped harmonica and guitar and focused on singing. I visited that Harmonica forum for a visit after some vocal lessons about six months later and posted a cover with me singing. He liked it and asked if I would do a song with him. We did "Got my Mojo Working" and the rest is history. But basically we started with old school blues harmonica songs. I guess I was more a backup for the harp. Even now, we pick songs that are harp heavy rather than being about the vocals.

Thanks for the listen,,,much appreciated

I think the harp player plays too much and too loud, taking attention away from the vocals. When you're accompanying a singer your job is to make him sound good not show off.

The song is a good fit for your voice

I laid down the vocals and video for two new collaboration videos for our duo "Transatlantic Mojo" almost a year ago. Actually I think it was last March. But due to technical problems and equipment breakdowns on my partners side the songs have been held up. He does all the mixing and video editing and pretty much the whole thing. I just sing and send him the vocal track...lol (he lives in Sweden). Personally I haven't sung a note in almost three months. In the meantime here is one we did about 2 years ago or so. I think it was our second collaboration. Eric Clapton does a great version of this. We stuck closer to the original and I kind of mellowed it out a bit for my take on the song. Actually I found the backing track a bit subdued and that is what brought me to my version. Hope you like it.
