Hello

I am 26 and right now i have been more interested in singing. I have been playing guitar for over 7 years so. I know i destroyed this song and my voice sounds bad.. But is there any exercises i can do to get not a higher voice but stronger voice and more listenable sound to my notes?

https://www.smule.com/recording/meatloaf-bat-out-of-hell/713794929_834294124

You play Guitar. I don't. If I never played before and asked you what exercise I could do to make my solos better you would think I was crazy. I'd first have to learn how to play guitar before learning to solo. Right? Your question about getting a stronger voice is the same. Before you can get a stronger voice, a softer one, higher notes, vibrato , lower notes sustained notes or any other thing singing related you first have to learn the instrument and how to play it. And your vocal folds are an instrument just like anything else.

Very few people are actually "tone deaf" it's rare. We all are born with the same instrument (vocal folds/cords). Each may have a different sound but they all work pretty much the same. Just like any other instrument. A lot like a guitar. Change the shape of the string on a guitar (bending) and you get a different sound. But you need to get it on pitch; you can't just bend it. The vocal cords are the same stretch them the note gets higher, relax them and it gets lower. But you have to do it to pitch. Then there are other techniques to also vary these sounds. But it's an instrument just like any other instrument and we can all learn how to play. Some better than others but we can all learn.

Until you learn how to play it any tricks or exercises will be worthless. Just like handing me a guitar. You have to start from the bottom. Like it or not. Forget all the Iron Maiden stuff and go back to simple chest voice songs. Stuff you may not like but so what. They are training songs. Work your way up. You'll be better off in the long run. You're young...you have time. Just like learning to play a guitar. You don't give a beginner the solo from Stairway to Heaven to play or practice.

Get lessons anyway you can. Teacher, books internet...all three... whatever. So if you want to know if you can sing? Not at the moment. Right now your singing is sounding "untrained." Let's put it that way. While I can hear "potential" there, it is very off pitch and pinched, strained and closed off somehow. But this is from lack of understanding/training. Nothing else. I think support is lacking also which might be leading to some of the other issues. But with proper training I think you have a good shot.

Good not many people see that. They try to achieve something that doesnt come natural. Singing is not something you can practice and get good at. You are born with singing. Guitars and drums are much easier you can always get better on an instrument. But you know if i know i suck at something i just quit instead of living in a foolish dream world.

Its about the 3rd time I have seen you talking about quiting, then 2 months later you send a recording of the exact same thing, with the exact same flaws.

Just take lessons and solve it already.

Steve Perry sounds good, Chris Cornell sounds good.

I said it wasnt as bad as what you are making it. In the end it doesnt matter WHERE we start....what matters is taking it from where we are and getting better

its not too bad actually....not nearly as bad as some lol

just any basic singing exercises will help you...internet is full of them.

singing is all about breathing and breath control etc. Get a good breath in, in the stomach as much as in the chest etc......then just practice sustaining notes and making them sound good.

Then maybe take a short phrase like "hey hey mama, said the way you move" and start it off much lower than on the recording. Sing it there, then start working it up one note at a time etc while still making it sound good.

As it gets higher and you start to feel choked a bit or straining, you'll have to learn how to start making the sound more in the roof of the mouth and/or "mask" (front of face behind nose etc). Thats the transition from "chest voice" into "head voice" through whats called "the passagio". You can google for about a million vids on it

Long story short, as you singing higher you wont be able to make all of the sound back in your throat, youll have to learn how to use the higher spaces in the mouth/head etc

Peace, JJ
