Great vid. Another prob I think is when people are paying a vocal instructor but are going on forums asking other people the questions. Ask the teacher you're paying!! Most of the struggles students tend to have in my experience are from their own emotional baggage (trust as you put it) that hinders their vocal technique development.
Btw, when I first heard Ed Sheeran's track I immediately thought of Let's Get it On, glad to see I'm not the only one! Both tracks are so similar!

That's what I'm saying is where's the trust? If they had their mind clear and didn't have to second guess the answers would be more clear. It's like freeing space on your harddrive. Your computer (mind)will run more efficiently

Just reminds me that it applies for many things indeed, not just singing.
I am preparing very difficult exams that demands loads and loads of information, much more than what i could possibly learn in one year.
I spent some time to chose the good teachers in order to get prepared for these exams. Once i found the good teachers, i kind of overwork the homework they give me and the piece of information i get from them. I have to trust them as i don't have the time to double check the information or to work with other approaches. But thats also how i could change my career path so fast and catch up in monthes something that could have taken me litteraly years if i had to do it all by myself.
Its funny that you posted this message Dan because recently i was asked by other students whats my magic formula to catch up the stuff so fast and succeed at test exams. My answer to them is that there are teachers that i trust and i don't have to burden myself with additional homework as they have already said and explained the key information. I guess i am doing the same with regards to singing. In my first lessons with Phil, i remember litteraly stoping him to take notes , yeah, with a paper and a pen. Also, to the people who like to question things, which i think is fine, everything ultimately rests upon a belief. I mean, the number of things we know absolutely for sure is extremely low.
