Hey all, I'd like to share this cover with you and see what kind of suggestions or observations you may have.
Things I'm aware of:
-Pitchyness at the high notes at the end of the song.
-the high "mama" words have a slight change in tone, due to various things, haha
-You may perceive the voice a bit louder in the mix if you listen on speakers or loud in a cellphone... this usually happens to me, idk why :/ With headphones it sounds well, but it sounds different with other stuff.
Thanks in advance if you listen to this.

You're reaching those pitches for the most part, for sure! You do a pretty good job of singing on the vowels as Japanese is all about the vowels haha.. Good work. To me, it sounds like the the B4's no problem in terms of reaching the note for you, but the D5 sometimes seems a little pressed like you're trying to blast to get to it? Not sure if it could be constricting on the consonants holding you back from a freer D5. Sounds like there was a moment around 1:50 where the sound splatted too wide - it sounds like you let the consonants and emotion get the best of you perhaps and the tensions that caused threw off the balance. Perhaps practicing some bickie-bye-bo-boo with SH and J and trying to move the mouth and tongue only as much as necessary to pronounce it properly and then try to transfer that "relaxed" face feeling. You mentioned you are already aware of the pitchiness in many of the high notes at the end, so you can probably tell.
There's not much I can observe about phrasing because my Japanese is pretty crap and I was too busy trying to hear your voice and figure out what I was listening to. How much compression, reverb, or other adjustments did you use on your vocal track?
I think the reason your voice isn't coming out through the mix has to do with the layering of the tracks (yours as well as when backing track was created) and how they're mixed. There seems like there's SO MUCH bass in the backing track you're singing to and the way it's panned (left/right if at all) also impacts how those frequencies will muddy up your voice as well. Perhaps the track maker had the bass turned way up and put in the center of the track... which is where your voice gets put when you record vox tracks usually. lol
When I listened to the track, I turned the bass levels down a bit on my computer speakers and was able to hear your voice like 5x better. In the future, could be useful to test the final result before you get rid of the project file, so that if your "final mix" turned out to be too bassy to hear your voice, you could just tweak the EQ for that track a little bit or something.
